No matter Single Girder Overhead Crane and Double Girder Overhead Crane, its main beam is generally welded by steel plate. The main beam is the main load parts of the overhead crane, in addition to require the steel material must meet the overhead crane design requirement, it is important that the steel welding quality must meet the design standard requirement, so we need nondestructive test to check whether the main beam reach the requirement or not.
The Overhead Crane main beam welding process is complex, may appear defects, such as lack of penetration, pores, hot cracks, cold cracks and other defects, especially the butt welding parts thermal stress, will endanger the base material which connect with weld, appear micro defect, such as the diffuse inclusion and the intergranular organization uneven.
These micro defects will expand in the effect of heat, lead to appear strong thermal stress between the weld and base metal material. When the thermal stress exceed the load capacity of material, the steel and weld will crack, so the main beam nondestructive testing is very important to ensure overhead crane quality and safety, so as the gantry crane.
